Research on Ancestry in Genetic Epidemiology

at the Bloomberg School of Public Health

WHO WE ARE

We are the RAGE (Research on Ancestry in Genetic Epidemiology) Lab at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Located in the Department of Epidemiology and led by Dr. Gen Wojcik, we are a group of statistical geneticists and genetic epidemiologists focusing on understanding the role of genetic ancestry in genetic risk and the associated consequences for both individual-level precision health and at a larger scale for public health with the goal of addressing health inequities for diverse and admixed populations.

Our group's most recent work has explored the interaction of genetic ancestry and environment in admixed populations and downstream consequences for genetic risk prediction. It is important to leverage the complex ancestry of large-scale admixed populations, instead of trying to "overcome" it, to better understand the genetic underpinnings of human health.Â
